At the 5-7, 7-6 (7-4), 4-3 standings, 19-year-old Emma Raducanu was forced to break the match in Guadalajara's WTA tournament against the former 20-ranked (now ranked 610) Australian Daria Saville, due to a hip injury.
By then, the two players had been out on the field for no less than 3 hours and 36 minutes, which made the match the longest match so far this season.
The previous highest score came during the Australian Open, when Danka Kovinic defeated Jang Su-Jeong 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
"Felt like myself"
Saville operated on the hamstring last year and tonight's victory was her first on the WTA Tour since the 2021 Australian Open.
- This was probably the first match in a long time that I felt like myself.
I had a lot of energy.
I just wanted to keep fighting and keep going out there, she says, according to the WTA Tour's website.
