On Monday, Johansson was asked - and on Tuesday, he agreed with the Dutch Handball Association on a two-year contract in the role of national team captain for the women's national team.

Today he was presented by the union - and he starts his assignment already on Monday, Johansson tells Bohusläningen.

- There is a lot in the assignment that feels exciting and I am extremely proud that they chose me for this position, he says.

Has been a great nation

At the same time, he continues in the role of coach of the Russian team that has just finished the quarterfinals of the Champions League - where he has a contract until June this year.

In the agreement with Rostov, there was the opportunity for Johansson to also train national teams, due to Johansson's background in Montenegro, among other places.

The Netherlands has been a major nation in handball with a World Cup gold in 2019 and several international silver and bronze in the last ten years, but has for the past two years slipped a bit and had to settle for, among other things, a ninth place in the World Cup 2021.

Between the years 2008-2012, Johansson led Sweden's ladies and the years before that he was assistant coach for the team.
