Five-year restraining order for a man who stole the shoes of the father of a British tennis star

A British court today issued a five-year restraining order against a man who was stalking British tennis player Emma Radocano, walking 37 kilometers to her home where he seized her father's shoes.

The 19-year-old reigning Flushing Meadows champion said Amrit Magar, 35, had violated her freedom and made her constantly look behind her, according to Bromley Criminal Court in south London.

The former delivery driver from north-east London visited Raducano's home in south-east London three times, and on one occasion he decorated a tree in the front garden with Christmas lights.

He also left her roses with a message saying, "Nothing to say but that you deserve love."

The message included a hand-drawn map showing the distance of "23 miles" he had walked from his home.

Attorney General Denis Klose read Radocano's statement that "events made her very anxious when she came out."

"Her parents hesitate to let her go out on her own. She feels that her freedom has been taken away and he is constantly watching her," she said.

Her father Ian called the police after spotting Magar on the doorbell.

He later noticed that one of his shoes was missing from the balcony.

Magar was convicted last month of stalking the rising star between November 1 and December 4.

On Wednesday, Judge Sushil Kumar issued a five-year restraining order against him.

He is no longer allowed to contact Radocano or her parents, come within a mile (1.6 km) of her street or come to any facility where she trains or plays.
