In recent years, it has been more the rule than the exception that there have been Swedish skiers in World Cup competitions in cross-country skiing on the women's side.

But neither Ebba Andersson nor Frida Karlsson took any individual medal, and the fact is that only one of the four Swedish medals came in a distance race, namely the ladies' relay.

The national team manager had hoped for more

One who had expected a better championship is SVT Sports expert Mathias Fredriksson.

- In advance, I thought that Sweden would take a medal in all women's distances, so that both Frida Karlsson and Ebba Andersson go home without any individual medals, I really did not think, he says.

National team manager Anders Byström admits that he too had hoped for a better Olympics.

- I'm not completely happy.

We had higher goals than that.

Right now, it also feels incredibly brutal with what happened today.

I really think Ebba was worth a medal, so we are very sad right now.

It feels like we've had a little post out.

But it is a cliché, so we should not use it, he says to Discovery, and continues:

- It's a little too weak to only take four medals.

At the same time, we should be proud of them.

The efforts have been good, but we have not reached the end.

"Has worked well"

Despite the weak medal distribution, he sees, at least on a straight arm, nothing that the national team should have done differently.

- No, really nothing.

We have been to three altitude camps and really invested in the altitude, and it has worked well.

We have had some who have been in the shape of their lives, such as Jonna Sundling and William Poromaa.

So we have done a lot right but conditions I do not think anyone could prepare for and know what it would feel like to be here, he says, and adds:

- Material-wise, I do not know how we have had it.

It feels like it has been good, and then we have to analyze together with the dikes how it has been.

In general, it is too early to draw any conclusions, but the preparations have been good.
