The bobsleigh duo Laura Nolte/Deborah Levi continued the series of successes in the Yanqing ice track at the Olympic Games in Beijing and won the next gold medal for the German Bobsleigh and Luge Association.

Mariama Jamanka/Alexandra Burghardt came second in the Yanqing Sliding Center ahead of Elana Meyers Taylor/Sylvia Hoffmann from the USA.

At half-time on Friday, the Nolte/Levi duo set a track record 0.5 seconds ahead of their compatriots Jamanka/Burghardt.

"Before the race, I was more nervous than I've ever been in my life, super nervous," admitted Nolte after the first two runs.

"When I was warming up I got dizzy, then I didn't feel my legs, then I got hot.

It couldn't have been worse," said the 23-year-old, who is taking part in the Olympic Games for the first time.

Jamanka won gold at the Winter Games four years ago in Pyeongchang, South Korea, and Sandra Kiriasis won the first German gold medal in two-man bobsleigh in Turin in 2006.

The women's bobsleigh discipline has only been an Olympic discipline since 2002
