He was so close that SVT Sports expert Alhaji Jeng thought that Duplantis had finally broken the record.

- It irritates me a little grand.

It is on a level that it is so close that I just need to get to the right hope.

It's frustrating because I know I can handle it but I have to do it too, says Duplantis from the hotel in Birmingham to SVT Sport.

It was the 48th time you missed the record height of 6.19.

Have you started thinking about it too much?

- No, I have tried the bar significantly more than 48 times in my life.

I have certainly not managed it the last two years, but when I was younger I often tried at high altitudes in training and am used to missing them even though I wanted to cross the bar.

I know what needs to be done very well.

I have always had barriers in my career and tried to overcome them and am not the one to give up.

It's very close now, I'll just get it together.

You seemed to be annoyed by something in connection with the record attempt.

What was that about?

- Haha, it was pretty funny and crazy.

They refused to play the song I had chosen.

I wanted them to play a song by Jireel.

But they said they could not play a Swedish song because it was an international audience that spoke English on the spot.

That was a pretty crazy reasoning.

I was not angry at the clerk but at the DJ.

They explained that the audience would not understand what the song was about.

I tried to explain that it was not a crazy song but they still did not want to play it, says Mondo that he wanted the rap artist Jireel's song "Mano" played.

The next competition will be a gala in Belgrade on March 7.

It will be in the same arena where the indoor WC will be decided on March 18-20.

- It will be an important competition to get to know the courses.

I hope to be able to break the world record before the World Cup.

That is my next goal, says Duplantis.
