The Takano Ren = Japan High School Baseball Federation has put together new standards such as reducing the diameter of the bat to suppress the repulsive force of the metal bat for the purpose of protecting the pitcher from injury, and will make a complete transition next year. ..

In high school baseball, the performance of the metal bat has improved, and the speed and distance of the hit ball have improved. In the summer of 2019, the hit ball hit the pitcher directly and the face was broken. ..

In response to this situation, Takano Ren has been reviewing the standards, such as testing prototypes over two years in order to suppress the repulsive force of metal bats, and on the 18th, a new standard was set at the board meeting held in Osaka City. Approved.

The standard revised for the first time in 23 years stipulates that the upper limit of the diameter of the bat should be reduced by 3 mm and the thickness of the metal should be increased.

In the test, the initial velocity of the hit ball is 3.6% slower than before, and the flight distance is expected to drop by about 5 to 6 meters, so Takano Ren says that it will completely shift to the new standard next year.

Kaoru Takara, Chairman of the Takano Ren, commented, "We will continue to make efforts to improve high school baseball while considering the health and safety of players."
