Arab Basketball Federation meeting .. Al-Gergawi retains the presidency

The Board of Directors of the Arab Basketball Federation, in its new session headed by Major General Ismail Al Gergawi, President of the UAE Federation, for the first time in the history of the Board, included the membership of six members, in the electoral cycle extending until 2024.


This came at the conclusion of the meetings of the General Assembly, which was held yesterday in Dubai, and approved that Tunisian Ali Benzarti holds the position of Vice-President of the Arab Union for the Maghreb region, the membership of the candidate of Lebanon and the president of Beirut Club Nadim Hakim, Noura Al-Suwaidi from the UAE as the Vice-President, the Algerian Bouarifi Rabeh, Awaid Al-Enezi from Al-Tuwait, and Rehab Taha Al-Ghannam from Egypt.


Major General Al Gergawi retained the presidency for a new electoral term, in addition to Dr. Magdi Abu Farikha retaining the position of Vice President for the central region, Abd al-Rahman al-Massad, vice president for the Arab Gulf region, Hussein Youssef for the center region, Abdul Sattar al-Hamdani for the Arab Mashreq region, and Ibrahim Habash for the State of Palestine .


At the level of committees, three committees were established, namely, International Relations headed by Major General Ismail Al Gergawi, with the membership of Ali Al-Banzarti, Muhammad Abdul-Muttalib and Akram Al-Halabi, while the Technical Management Committee was headed by Abdul Rahman Al-Masad, with the membership of Abdul-Sattar Al-Hamdani and Bouarifi Rabeh, and Nadim Hakim chaired the membership of the Marketing Committee in a committee that included in Its membership is Mohammed Al-Mutairi from Kuwait, Nasser Al-Kaabi from Qatar, Osama Faisal from Sudan and Ali Al-Banzarti from Tunisia.


In the rest of the committees, Dr. Magdi Abu Freikha will head the Technical and Competitions Committee, while the Media and Public Relations Committee will be chaired by Muhammad Baad Al Zarouni, head of the Executive Office of the UAE Basketball Association, and the coaches committee will go to the Tunisian Munir bin Al Habib, technical director of the UAE Federation, and the Women’s Committee headed by Noura Al-Suwaidi, and a committee (3 against 3) headed by the Egyptian Rehab Al-Ghannam.


And it was decided to appoint the Moroccan Abdel Raouf Bin Taleb as an advisor to the president of the federation, knowing that in the outgoing session he held the position of vice president for the Maghreb region.
