The Vasaloppet celebrated 100 years by inviting to an anniversary race where everything would look like it did the first Vasaloppet in 1922. In the finish he got a wreath and a mirror as a prize, the ladies' winner Sofia Lind got nothing.

- I think the Vasaloppet did a fantastic job of imitating 1922, this was a detail where they should have done differently, they probably think so themselves in retrospect as well, says Wickström.

Wickström was going on holiday to Åre, stopped and shopped in Järpen and picked up the phone.

Only then did I realize that I had received a wreath and a mirror that the women's winner had not received.

Handed over the wreath: "I pinged on"

Wickström first intended to send the wreath by post.

- I then checked where she lived and then it was just as good to hand it over immediately, I was going to Duved and she lived in Tegefjäll, so I pinged.

Ladies winner Sofia Lind was surprised to say the least.

- I was very surprised and happy, I do not know him at all and had no idea, it was just a coincidence that he was up here, Lind says.

What do you think about not getting a wreath?

- When you reflect, it feels a bit old-fashioned, you might have thought of a little more from the organization.

The Vasaloppet responds to the criticism

On social media, a debate was raised where criticism was directed at the Vasaloppet for not handing out a wreath to the first lady.

- We feel that it felt like a misjudgment that we chose not to highlight the fastest lady in the same way, says Vasaloppet's CEO Johan Eriksson to SVT Sport.

Do you think you should have done differently now in retrospect?

- Yes absolutely.

we have already said that, these are trade-offs we make and this is exactly what we could probably have done better simply, it felt a bit awkward that we chose not to do it.
