"It could be a world record"

SVT's athletics expert Alhaji Jeng lists his five highlights for today's competition:

1. Jakob Ingebrigtsen (1500 meters, men)

“The superstar from Norway won Olympic gold this summer and also ran very well here in Liévin last year when he finished fifth through the times in the distance.

This is obviously a course he enjoys.

Maybe he can polish his European record today?

Interesting to see where the Norwegian stands in his first competition.

Last year, he was also only 74 hundredths of the world record ".

2. Grant Holloway (60 meters hurdles, men)

"The American has opened the season in the style of how he ran last year when he set a new world record with 7.29.

Has this year run 7.37 so this can be a world record if everything is correct ".

3. Yulimar Rojas (long jump, ladies)

“Tonight, the world record holder exchanges three steps for long jump, but no matter how you twist and turn it, Rojas is a name that weighs heavily.

Ridiculously dominant in triple jump, a bit like Duplantis in pole vault.

But there is also no doubt about the potential as a long jumper as Rojas has a personal best of 6.88.

Above all, against the Ukrainian Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk ”.

4. Marcell Jacobs (60 meters, men)

“When the Italian won Olympic gold in the 100 meters this summer, it was a splendor.

Now he has started the indoor season in a brilliant way and is definitely in shape to beat his own personal best.

He has run 6.49 this year and has 6.47 as a personal record ".

5. Hanna Hermansson (one English mile, ladies)

"Hanna has run better than ever at the beginning of the season and set a new personal best on an English mile indoors with 4.29.81, which gives a 13th place on the world year best list".
