It had been an even history in terms of results and when the clock ticked towards its end, the USA was in the lead with 2-1 and about to advance to the Olympic semifinals in ice hockey.

But Slovakia - and Marek Hrivik - wanted something else.

The Slovaks took out the goalkeeper and did everything they could to get a draw and with about 45 seconds left, a heavy back shot looked forward to the US goalkeeper Strauss Mann, to everyday life in Skellefteå, who released return.

Then Marek Hrivik, who yesterday was officially ready for Leksand, hit straight and fixed an extension.

During the following ten minutes, however, there was no goal and the match went to penalties.

There, Peter Cehlarik stepped forward and put the puck in the net in the fourth round of the penalty shootout.

When then Patrik Rybak saved the United States' subsequent punishment, the matter was clear.

Slovakia is playing in the semi-finals of the Olympics for the first time since 2010 - and the USA is already out in the quarter-finals.
