The Football Association had received a letter from the International Football Association "FIFA", specifying that on March 25 and 28, the matches between Egypt and Senegal in the qualifiers for the decisive round of the 2022 World Cup.

The first leg will be held at Cairo Stadium, while the return match will be held at the Diamond Olympic Stadium in Senegal. At 9 pm Cairo time, the date for the two matches was set.

For his part, the official spokesman for the Egyptian Football Association, Walid Al-Attar, confirmed that the departure of the coach of the Olympic team, Shawky Gharib, came to save expenses only.

Al-Attar confirmed in statements to Al-Hadath Al-Youm channel: “Shawki Gharib’s departure is not for any reason other than providing salaries and expenses from the shoulders of the Football Association during the coming period.”

Al-Attar added: “We saw that the Olympic team is not linked to any dates or matches for a year, and therefore we decided to leave the entire technical staff so that we would not pay the salaries during all that period, but there are no other reasons.”

On the reason for the Portuguese Nelo Vingada remaining in the position of technical advisor to the federation and not leaving in order to save expenses like Gharib, Al-Attar said: “Vingada works with the 2003 and 2006 teams and communicates directly with the technical staff of these teams on a permanent basis.”

Al-Attar concluded: "Vingada's work is continuing, but it is not visible to the public, and for those who do not enjoy the affairs of the union files, the 2006 team will participate next month in the North African Championship in Algeria, and Vingada is working with the team directly."
