Every day, Anicet Mbida makes us discover an innovation that could well change the way we consume.

This Tuesday, he is interested in a new version of the business card, equipped with an NFC chip, contactless.

This Tuesday morning, you are telling us about a traditional product that is being modernized and reinvented.

This is the good old business card.

The new models now have an NFC chip (a contactless chip).

What use can it be?

Quite simply to send their contact details directly to the phone of their interlocutor without having to copy them.

Obviously, the mobile must be compatible with the contactless function (NFC compatible).

Then, just put the card on it and the directory application will automatically receive what is called a vCard.

This is a standardized file with all the contact details of a person: surname, first name, eMail… There can also be several addresses, several telephone numbers, the website, etc.

It's the same file that we send to each other when we send someone's contact details by SMS, but transmitted, this time, by the contactless chip.

What if the phone is not NFC compatible?

There is also a QR Code which will play exactly the same role.

All you have to do is flash it to receive the famous vCard.

This has several advantages.

First of all, we avoid making mistakes when copying.

We also avoid Rolodexes and other business card binders.

Above all, we will no longer need to order and reprint new cards each time we change function, address or telephone number.

All information can be changed directly on the internet.

The business card will then be automatically updated.

This will avoid throwing thousands of cards in the trash because their information has become obsolete.

The interest is therefore also ecological.

If there is a chip inside, will it cost more?

Yes it's sure.

Depending on the supplier and the degree of personalization, it takes, on average, around €15 for a single card.

For the same price, we could have several hundred in cardboard.

It is therefore more of a card that we will keep, than a card that we will distribute.

Which isn't so bad.

It seems that 33% of business cards are thrown away less than a week after being received...
