Learn about the position of referee Bakari Gasama from participating in the World Cup after his mistakes in the match between Egypt and Cameroon

During the past hours, social media circulated news that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decided to exclude Gambian referee Bakari Jasama from participating in the 2022 World Cup, due to his mistakes, and the way he dealt with the players and the technical staff, in the match between Egypt and Cameroon. Which was held in the semi-finals of the African Nations Cup, which was recently crowned by Senegal.

But the former CAF technical director, Abdel Moneim Shata, had a different opinion, and said that there was no intention within the CAF to impose sanctions on the referee, Kari Gassama.

Shata said, in statements to "Ahl Masr" website: "I spoke with the officials of the CAF Referees Committee about this matter, and they assured me that Bakary Gassama received a 9 out of 10 rating in this match."

Regarding Jasama’s position on participating in the World Cup, Shata explained: “The Gambian referee is one of the most prominent referees within the African continent, and of course he will represent the continent in the next World Cup, and his decisions in the match between Egypt and Cameroon will not affect this representation.”
