Since the departure of the national coach, Mahdi Ali, in 2017, that is, during only five years, six coaches have trained the first national team, and the team went through an unstable phase, and seemed lost between different training schools.

And the Argentine coach, Rulfo Aruabarina, who was contracted by the Football Association, the day before yesterday, to lead “Al-Abyad” until 2023, succeeding Dutch coach Van Bert Marwijk, is the number six coach on the team list after the departure of Mahdi Ali, and the coaches are:Argentine Edgar Bowes, who lasted with the national team for a very short period from February 2017 to September of the same year, and led the national team in only four matches, but he suddenly left to coach the Saudi national team, forcing the Football Association to sign with Italian Alberto Zaccheroni, who led the team on 24 A match during the period from October 2017 to February 2019, and he was sacked due to the team’s mediocre results in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup. He was followed by the Dutch Marvik, who coached the national team in the first phase from March 22, 2019 to December 4 of the same year, but was sacked due to his failure. In the 24th Gulf Cup, he was succeeded by Serbian coach Ivan Jovanovic during the period from December 2019 to April 2020, and the latter did not lead the team in any match until the date of his dismissal, to take over the task of Colombian coach Pinto, who did not last long, and the negative results precipitated his departure, as he led the team In only three friendly matches, during which he lost 1-2 to Uzbekistan, and toBahrain 0-3, and narrowly beat Tajikistan 2-1, and the Football Association contracted with Marvik again, but the latter also left due to the decline in the results of the team, which is currently ranked third in the first group in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Zaccheroni is considered the longest-lived with the national team with 15 months, followed by Marvik during his second period with 14 months, while the Colombian Pinto is considered the shortest period of time with "Al-Abyad", after spending with him only about four months.

Athletes confirmed to "Emirates Today" that contracting with these coaches, although they are considered big names in the field of training, they did not achieve the desired results with the national team, and put the Emirates ball in the appropriate place, despite attracting them with huge financial contracts.

The former national team coach, Dr. Abdullah Misfer, stressed that without an integrated work system, no positive results can be achieved, considering that the goals for the team were clear, but the ambiguity in work is the reason for all the problems that the team has faced since 2017.

Misfer wondered: “The lack of clarity in the vision since 2017, is it a process of building or a process of forming a team, or is it the completion of work that has been done during the last period, as there is confusion in choices, and an unclear preparation program?”

He continued, "There were huge contracts with the coaches who successively coached the national team, but they were useless and without a return, and the biggest mistake that occurred was to re-contract the Football Association with Marvik again, after he failed in the first stage.

The strange thing is that the coach returned to work with the same previous program, the same programming, and the same work system that he was working on previously, and it is also strange that the management of the Federation agreed to that, and everyone agreed to it.”

For his part, a former member of the Competitions Committee of the Football Association, Khaled Awad, said that the coaches who have followed the team over the past period are big names, have weights, are considered training competencies, and have succeeded with teams and teams they previously trained, but at the same time they were unsuccessful. With the UAE national team, stressing that there is a major flaw in the team's system, which is the reason behind the failure of every coach who coaches the team.

He praised the successful experience that Al Wahda Club had applied many years ago, in building from the base, relying on the age groups and football schools, and being patient with it until it bears fruit, pointing out that this experience was applied in the Football Association in one of the previous periods, and achieved great success.

For his part, the former director of the Al-Nasr football team, Khaled Obaid, considered that the team has witnessed a significant decline in recent years, considering that the main problem is not with the coaches who succeeded the team, but rather in the local league that did not produce distinguished players, as evidenced that the last period I witnessed the presence of six or seven players in the national team, their ages ranged from 31 to 36 years.

Khaled Obaid blamed the clubs for the regression of the national team, as they did not produce high-level players, as the last distinguished generation was the generation of Ismail Matar and Omar Abdul Rahman, considering that after this generation, the league did not produce any player.

• Serbian coach Ivan Jovanovic did not lead the national team in any match until the date of his dismissal.
