Manchester United fans have once again criticized captain Harry Maguire after his shocking performance against Southampton, on Saturday, in the English Premier League.

The England international has come under fire in recent weeks after his poor individual form coincided with a particularly bleak run for the "Red Devils" this season.

The 1-1 draw with the "Saints" was not different from the "red" team and its leader for a long time.

Southampton produced an outstanding performance at Old Trafford and loaned Chelsea striker Armand Bruga continued to make a serious impression.

Maguire suffered from the danger of the 20-year-old Albanian player, who eluded him in a fairy way that won the admiration of the pioneers of social networking sites, and brought a lot of criticism to the English international.

And the fans of the "Red Devils" urged the team's interim coach, Ralf Rangnick, to abandon the central defense to help improve the chances of the team seeking to achieve fourth place this season.

One fan said: "I really want to see Lindelof (Victor) replace Maguire in central defense because the latter makes a lot of mistakes and doesn't deserve to be a starter."

Another explains: Bruga was expected to dribble him but he wasn't nimble enough, and he was too slow to turn.

We're not going anywhere with this guy, he's such a handicap for the team.

An ardent fan went one step further, and demanded that Manchester United sell Maguire, in which he paid 80 million pounds ($108 million), to Leicester City for the player in 2019.

He tweeted, "It should be sold.. There is no point in holding on to a glimmer of hope and saying it's good. Let's cut our losses and move on."

One of them also mocked Maguire's speed, tweeting: "My grandmother is 102 years faster than Harry Maguire, 28."

United have won only twice of their last 6 league matches, leaving one fan to simply say Maguire sums up the club's situation at the moment.

He also said, "It's the biggest joke in the league week after week. If he did this level with any other big team, I would have him on the bench, but we made him a leader."

A number of fans have also granted Maguire a patent for a new football theory of 'defence without looking' against Southampton.

The image of this "invention" spread like wildfire on the communication sites, in which Maguire appeared to be trying a new defensive strategy.
