Swedish gymnastics celebrated great success during this weekend's World Cup competitions in trampoline in Baku.

On Saturday, Lina Sjöberg, as the first Swede of all time, managed to qualify for the individual final after a nice and stable series.

An achievement she managed to repeat a few hours later, this time in pairs with Thea Liljeroth in the synchronous jumping.

An impressive effort considering that they compete for different clubs and therefore have only been able to train together one day a week lately.

"A good weekend"

Once in the final, which only contained four pairs, Sjöberg and Liljeroth stood for a safe bet and it was enough all the way to a silver medal as two other pairs did not manage to get through the entire series without mistakes.

The silver medal was Sweden's first in the World Cup context in 30 years.

- I am very happy with the trip here to Baku with final and semi-final places.

It has been a good weekend for Swedish gymnastics, says national team coach Per Holgersson to the association's website.

Ended up wrong

Before the historic silver medal in synchro, Sjöberg had also fixed a sixth place in the individual final.

The chances of a medal were sabotaged when she ended up too close to the edge of the trampoline.

- A little sad that I did not get it as well as I wanted, but I came wrong and it was difficult to fight back to the middle.

I had more to give today than I got, says Sjöberg.
