Klopp: Liverpool signings must make the difference

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said the club's new signings should make the difference because the club cannot afford to waste money and time.

"The signings we've done have to make the difference because we can't spend 40 million pounds ($54.24 million) or 50 million pounds on a player in the end who doesn't have an impact on the team," Klopp told reporters yesterday. It's about injury and things like that, but this shouldn't happen often because, as they say in Germany, we don't swim with money."

The German coach added, "It is a rich team that does not face any problems, but the policy here is clear and it is .. We spend what we earn. If we earn more, we can spend more, and if we earn less, we can spend less."

Colombian striker Luis Diaz is the last player to join Liverpool on his contract from Porto on the last day of the winter transfer window last month and participated for the first time as a substitute for one of his colleagues in the victory over Cardiff City in the FA Cup last Sunday.

Diaz, 25, was so convincing that Klopp decided to start him from the start in the 2-0 win over Leicester City in the league last Thursday, and he has already been a headache for the opposing team.

In the Leicester match, Diogo Jota also starred, who scored the two goals of the match.

Jota also launched his career with clear success with the team after joining him in September 2020.

Klopp says the timing of transfer deals is important because a miscalculation of timing could deprive a team of big players like Jota or Mohamed Salah in this case.

Liverpool is second in the Premier League, nine points behind leaders Manchester City, and will visit Burnley, the bottom team, on Sunday.
