According to media reports, the American Ski and Snowboard Association is investigating the possible misconduct of one of its coaches and one of its athletes.

Both belong to the US snowboard cross team at the current Olympic Winter Games in China.

The trainer is accused of many years of sexual misconduct, the athlete of the use of racist language.

This is reported by the US news agency AP, among others.

Former American snowboard crosser Callan Chythlook-Sifsof wrote on Instagram that trainer Peter Foley had taken nude photos of female athletes, among other things, and that the athlete had repeatedly made racist comments.

The 32-year-old said she couldn't follow any more Olympics without making it public.

After Instagram deleted the original posts for violating "nudity and sexual activity guidelines" and "bullying," Chythlook-Sifsof reposted the allegations.

He was "made aware of the latest allegations," said the American Ski and Snowboard Association when asked by dpa.

"We take these allegations very seriously and the allegations are being investigated," it said.

The association did not say who the investigations are aimed at and what exactly the background is.

At a press conference of the American team with the Olympic champions in snowboard cross, Lindsey Jacobellis and Nick Baumgartner, the two gold medal winners initially did not go into detail about the allegations against their team members.

The accused coach, Peter Foley, told the American news portal Newsweek that he was surprised by the allegations and vehemently denied them.

According to USA Today, the accused snowboarder Hagen Kearney, who also competes in snowboard cross in Beijing for the USA, said in an email as follows: "Years ago I made a mistake with my words and it became reasonable measures taken.

I learned from that mistake and am a better person now.”
