On Friday, the men's 15-kilometer classic was decided at the Beijing Olympics.

Fastest finisher was Finnish Ivo Niskanen.

By far the slowest was Colombian Carlos Andres Quintana.

The 36-year-old - who switched from triathlon to cross-country skiing three years ago - was almost 17 minutes and 47 seconds behind the winner.

He came in 95th and last place.

"A nice moment"

Once in the finish, however, he received a warm welcome.

That is where Master Niskanen stood and waited.

- It was a nice moment, says Quintana to Ilta Sanomat.

Did not get a hit

He was hugged by Niskanen immediately after the finish.

- It was a consolation prize, because I did not feel well at all in the end.

From start to finish, I felt out of place.

I did not get a hit at all, says the Colombian.

Niskanen himself says:

- At the Olympic level, every achievement and athlete is valuable and appreciated.

Quintana, who lives in Andorra, has also competed in roller skis before.

Jens Burman became best best Swede (eighth place) in the competition.
