The idea was that Alexander Köll would compete in November last year after the nasty crash in Val d'Isére 2020. But the neck injury, which he suffered in connection with the accident, then reminded himself and sat on the sight.

On Wednesday, he made a comeback in a European Cup competition in Kvitfjell, Norway - and then bad luck came again.

Köll crashed in connection with a ride and injured one knee.

- I have had accumulations of fluid in the knee joint.

The ligaments are stable, he tells SVT Sport.

"Blessing in disguise"

Köll's doctor explained to him that in connection with the crash he was lucky that it did not end worse.

- We were lucky in bad luck.

Have a sore knee, but I can easily take it when you do not need surgery.

Unfortunately, it is part of the sport.

"Still a fucking successful comeback"

He is otherwise happy with his return.

- My first ride at an official downhill training without major feelings in the neck and eyes, which felt like a win.

In addition, I won the official DH training the day before the crash.

Still a fucking successful comeback.

How long will the rehab be?

- Hard to say, definitely depends on the pain and how the knee reacts.

Can go very fast, everything is stable, but you know that tendons can be a little uncomfortable with pain.

But we are already working on my rehab team in Innsbruck.
