They bet on matches when it is prohibited by the Sports Code.

The LFP Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned around forty players and educators involved in a sports betting case during the 2019-2020 season, we learned on Wednesday evening.

"This is the twelfth file crossing, carried out with the assistance of the National Gaming Authority and the French Games, since the 2013/2014 season", indicates the LFP in a press release, recalling that it leads " awareness or information campaigns with clubs on a daily basis” on the ban on sports betting for professional gamblers.

Two games of firm suspension for the most involved

Among the sanctioned players, there are three residents of Ligue 1 with Gaëtan Laborde (Stade Rennais), Stéphane Bahoken (Sco Angers) and Jean-Charles Castelletto (FC Nantes).

All three received three-game suspended sentences.

The other players were sanctioned with a two-game suspension for the most involved and a two-game suspended sentence for some.

A dozen players also get away with a simple reminder of the law.
