The expansion takes place by the last team in this year's elite series avoiding relegation, at the same time as the winners in both the Allsvenskan north and south are moved up.
An investigation into the series division within Swedish bandy is ongoing, but this decision will be made before it is completed.
"In the work with the series review, we have seen that the majority of the women's associations welcome an expansion in the elite series, to 10 teams," says Anna-Karin Larsson, competition manager at the Swedish Bandy Association.
