Mikaela Shiffrin still does not know how it feels to get down the piste in Yanqing in an Olympic competition.

After the early fall in the giant slalom on Monday, things went wrong in the favorite discipline of slalom.

Shiffrin's coach set the course

After the run-out, the 26-year-old sat in the snow next to the track.

There she sat for a long time with her head in her hands.

It was also the American coach who had set the course in the first slalom race.

- So damn boring, you know yourself what it's like to drive out, you treat no one to it, says Anna Swenn Larsson to TT after Shiffrin's sorti.

- I'm a little surprised actually.

She had probably not run out in about four years in slalom before she ran out in Kranjska Gora, so it's a big surprise.

Best chances away

Shiffrin is in China to take gold for the third game in a row after the slalom gold in 2014 and the giant slalom victory in 2018.

Now her two best chances are gone.

Shiffrin has previously said that she plans to run all five individual disciplines in the Olympics.

Next up is super-G on Friday.
