Armand Duplantis entered the IFU Arena in his own competition at home in Uppsala to great cheers.

Then the show began.

- I have not been so nervous in a long time.

It felt great.

It can be a good competition, he says in SVT's broadcast after having managed the entrance height of 5.55 playing easily.

A good competition was exactly what it turned out to be.

At the same time as Duplantis managed his heights by a large margin, Chris Nilsen, the Olympic silver medalist from Tokyo, also impressed.

They both kept pace and were the only ones who were flawless over 5.92.

With them over that height, they also got KC Lightfoot and the trio raised the bar to 6.04.

A height that only Duplantis managed in the first attempt - and thus he beat the new world year best.

Both Lightfoot and Nilsen then tore themselves out and Duplantis secured the victory.

The competition is ongoing.
