• At 31, Matthieu Rosset has quite a record in diving, with five European titles from 2012 to 2017, as well as a crown of world team champion in 2017.

  • The athlete from Lyon, who participated in the Tokyo Olympics, took part last month, with a lot of self-mockery, in the first food competition in France, which he won thanks to two jumps as funny as they are scary.

  • The video, posted Tuesday on YouTube by his humorist friend Pierre Croce, has more than 1.2 million views in less than 24 hours.

From a failure at the Tokyo Olympics, with elimination in qualifying on the 10m springboard, to an unexpected rebound, five months later in Villejuif, during the first French competition… for dishes!

Lyonnais diver Matthieu Rosset became last month the first winner of an (obviously) unofficial event designed by his humorist friend Pierre Croce, and posted on his YouTube channel on Tuesday.

We strongly recommend this half-hour of a hilarious competition, which pits 13 divers representing each region of metropolitan France against each other.

Five-time European champion (in 2012, 2015 and 2017) and team world champion in 2017, on 1 and 3 m springboards, the 31-year-old athlete tried his hand at 5 m on " a discipline that we hope will soon be Olympic”, according to Pierre Croce.

“He made the perfect alignment”

Three criteria are immediately announced by the presenters Pierre Croce and Benjamin Verrecchia to seduce the judges: “The noise, the splashes and the little redness on the chest.

After "years of coaching training on the flat" with Pierre Croce, Matthieu Rosset nearly killed the competition with his first jump, "the rainbow", which scored a perfect 30 out of 30. Imagine a start without momentum and an ultimate flat back on arrival horizontally in the water.

All with a sound as thunderous as a dunk from Vince Carter or a half-volley from Steven Gerrard.

"He made the perfect alignment", immediately screams Benjamin Verrecchia.

"It's time to remember that you shouldn't dive like that if you're not a flat professional", continues Pierre Croce.

And for good reason, the Lyonnais grimaces with an entirely red back.

"The first time I win a cup that hurts me so much"

“Three 10s is wonderful, I've never had that in my life, even as a high-level diver,” smiles the person concerned, in accordance with the eighth degree tone of the video.

In the final, Matthieu Rosset once again flew over the competition with a "chair" jump, with thighs and buttocks on fire at the landing, and a score of 28, synonymous with victory.

“Mohamed Ali, Michael Jordan, Roger Federer, Matthieu Rosset”, then lets go of a judge.

"It's the first time I've won a cup that hurts me so much," concludes the Lyon diver in the video, who then had to spread Biafine to soothe the burns.

"I bled and had a huge hematoma on my thigh," he even

told Le Progrès

.

Frankly, it freaked me out.

I would have been unable to make a third jump.

“Let him be reassured, his two

masterpieces

, all in “self-mockery”, are enough for him to be the most stamped diver in this video, which has more than 1.2 million views on YouTube in less than 24 hours.
