American running coach Alberto Salazar was banned for life by the US Center for SafeSport in July 2021 for sexual assault.

During massages, Salazar penetrated a runner with his finger on two occasions.

This became known through the publication of details from the objection proceedings in the "New York Times" last week.

The arbitral tribunal ruled in January that the allegations made by the athlete concerned were more likely than not correct.

The Center for SafeSport had announced Salazar's exclusion from the sport with a note on its website and justified it with sexual and emotional misconduct;

as a matter of principle, the organization does not comment on its procedures and does not answer questions.

Salazar denies the allegations.

"As a devoted husband, father and human being, I view any form of sexual misconduct towards another person as personally reprehensible and a violation of everything I believe in," it said in an email to the FAZ

63-year-old Salazar is a star in the running world.

In his early twenties he won the New York marathon and the Boston marathon three times.

In 2001 he founded the Oregon Project with the sporting goods manufacturer Nike, which produced, among others, the four-time British Olympic champion Mo Farah.

In 2019, the United States Anti-Doping Agency suspended him for four years for promoting doping behavior and obstructing testing.

The Nike running group then disbanded.

Since then, the German World Cup third over 5000 meters from Doha 2019 Konstanze Klosterhalfen has been training with Salazar's former assistant Pete Julian.
