Dubai to host the Grand Prix of e-bikes November 2022

Dubai will be the first city to host the 10-race Grand Prix of e-bikes, which will be held next November, to promote sustainability and new technological innovations.

The tournament will then be held in several cities around the world, in Europe, the United States of America, South Africa, South Korea, China and Turkey, and will pass through the most prominent tourist and heritage attractions, according to a statement issued by the Dubai Sports Council.

The Dubai Sports Council reviewed with the International Organizing Committee of the Grand Prix Series, during a meeting held yesterday, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, Saeed Hareb, the Assistant Secretary-General, Nasser Aman Al Rahma, the Director of Sports Events Department, Khaled Al Awar, and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Series The Grand Prix of e-bikes (e-bike), Andy Moss, and officials of the Grand Prix series, Dubai's great potential, which makes it the preferred place to launch and organize major international sporting events and tournaments, in addition to the great facilities that support the efforts of international organizers investing in the field of sports.

Andy Moss expressed his happiness to cooperate with the Dubai Sports Council, and to provide all the facilities that would enable it to organize a world championship befitting the name of Dubai and the status of this sport, including facilitating obtaining licenses, supporting various government agencies, and national regulatory expertise qualified to organize any global event.

The races feature 10 of the strongest teams in the world, and each team participates in two courses for both men and women, and each track includes specially designed slopes, power charging areas, as well as top speed “sprint” areas.

The statement added: “Dubai is one of the cities that supports the practice of cycling, which is increasing in popularity among all members of society annually, thanks to the strong infrastructure that it enjoys in all regions, and the organization and hosting of international sporting events for bicycles annually, which encouraged all Community groups to exercise in general, and cycling in particular, in addition to relying on it as an environmentally friendly means of transportation.”

The statement indicated: "Dubai has become one of the most prominent cities whose vision is consistent with the pioneering sports development, especially with this type of new sports, and this tournament will contribute to creating a new and exciting sports experience, in addition to enhancing Dubai's achievements in achieving sustainability, and in line with the Emirates Energy Strategy. 2050 aims to reduce carbon emissions by 16% by 2021, and transform Dubai into the city with the lowest carbon footprint in the world.”
