The Korean athletes participating in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics announced that they would strongly protest to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Chairman Thomas Bach along with a complaint to the International Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) against the biased judgment in the short track event.



On the morning of the 8th, the Korea Sports Council held an emergency press conference to protest the short track judgment at the Main Media Center (MMC) of the Games in Beijing, China.



Hong-geun Yoon, who is also the president of the Korea Skating Federation, and In-tak Yoo, vice-president of the Korean national team, Yong-gu Choi, head of the short track national team support team, and So-hee Lee, coach of the women's short track team participated in the press conference.



Director Yoon said, "I have requested an instant meeting with Chairman Bach through IOC member Lee Ki-heung and IOC Athletes Committee member Yoo Seung-min," said Yoon.



The Sports Council also announced earlier that it would sue the International Court of Arbitration for Arbitration in the men's 1,000m short track semifinal.



Director Yoon said, "I will find all possible methods and immediately file a complaint with the CAS in accordance with the procedures. I will try all means and methods to prevent this from happening again in the international ice skating and sports world."



In the men's 1,000m short track short track semifinals held at the Capital Indoor Stadium in Beijing, China yesterday, Hwang Dae-heon (Gangwon Provincial Office) and Lee Jun-seo (Korea National University of Sports) were disqualified due to an ambiguous decision even though they crossed the finish line in first and second place in the group.



In the final, where three Chinese players participated in the final due to our players being eliminated, Hungary's Saolin Shandor Liu crossed the finish line first, but the referee gave two penalties, and China's Ren Ziwei took the gold medal.
