Mohamed Salah: I don't care about the "best prize"... and my focus is on the African Championship title

Mohamed Salah, the winger for the first football team of Liverpool FC and the Egyptian national team, confirmed that his current focus is on winning the African Nations Championship currently being held in Cameroon.

Salah said in a press conference held yesterday that the Egyptian team is ready to face Senegal, despite the state of fatigue that controls the players.

He added, "We faced strong teams in the tournament, but we are ready and striving to achieve the title and make the Egyptian fans happy."

He explained, "We are playing against a big team, which is Senegal, which includes my colleague in Liverpool, Sadio Mane."

He continued, "My current focus is to win the African Nations Championship and I do not think that it will help me achieve the award for the best player in the world. It is still too early to talk about this."

He stressed that winning that tournament would be the most important and prominent event in his career, especially as he won trophies with his club, Liverpool, and he is missing out on winning that edition with his country.

For his part, Wael Gomaa, director of the Egyptian national team, confirmed that the current African Nations Championship is the most difficult for him throughout his life as a football player and official.

Gomaa said that as a player he played several African Nations Championships, but this edition was the most difficult of his career.

He added, "We moved between many cities and faced very great pressure, but we managed to reach the last point, which is the final against Senegal."

He explained that there are many matters that will be revealed at another time about what happened with them in the tournament, including arbitrary prejudice and unjustified criticism.
