FC Bayern has consolidated the top of the table in the Bundesliga with a win in the offensive spectacle against RB Leipzig.

In a thrilling top game on Saturday, Munich celebrated a 3:2 (2:1) against last year's number one rival, who was unable to gain ground in the fight for a place in the Champions League.

In front of a maximum of 10,000 spectators, Bayern celebrated after goals from Thomas Müller (12th minute), Robert Lewandowski (44th) and Josko Gvardiol, who deflected a cross from Serge Gnabry into his own goal (58th).

André Silva (27th) and Christopher Nkunku (53rd) documented Leipzig's will to succeed with their equalizers - a third was not successful in the exciting final phase.

When they returned to the Allianz Arena after two months of ghost games, the spectators were treated to high-speed football.

Both the host series champion and the runner-up in the championship, who had won all four competitive games this year, switched on again and again.

Overall, Bayern acted more maturely and extended their lead over Dortmund, who played against Leverkusen on Sunday, to nine points.

Both teams tried to disrupt the opponents' build-up play energetically and early on - which repeatedly led to success.

After losing the ball by RB defense chief Willi Orban against Corentin Tolisso, he gave the ball to Lewandowski.

The world footballer could not overcome Leipzig keeper Peter Gulasci.

But after his parade, Müller stood where a goalscorer stands and completed the lead.

The top assist provider shone once again as a goalscorer against the Saxons, against whom he even scored twice in the 3: 3 in December 2020 in the last home game to date.

On the other side, Dani Olmo, who was in the Leipzig starting XI for the first time under new coach and Nagelsmann friend Domenico Tedesco, failed twice at national goalkeeper Manuel Neuer (16th/18th). The 35-year-old was powerless a little later when Konrad Laimer defeated him with a lob and finally Silva pushed the ball past Benjamin Pavard and Niklas Süle over the line. This was preceded by a ball loss by Tolisso, who was unable to process a demanding pass.

Spurred on by the equalizer, Bayern then pushed for the 2-1.

A cunning lob from Kingsley Coman was somehow deflected against the post by Gulasci with the tip of his glove (34').

After Müller's second goal did not withstand the video check due to a previous foul by Lewandowski on Gvardiol (36th), coach Julian Nagelsmann celebrated the renewed lead before the break.

After a cross from Coman, Lewandowski headed in against the direction of Gulasci to score the 24th league goal of the season.

It remained entertaining after the change of sides.

Lewandowski tipped the ball into the Leipzig goal almost to make it 3-1 after Müller's preliminary work (51st).

Almost in return, Nkunku increased the tension after winning the ball and a perfect pass from Laimer when he converted the score to make it 2-2 in front of Neuer.

And the Bavarians?

They reacted promptly and took the lead for the third time.

After Gulasci's bad pass, Munich switched quickly - and Serge Gnabry's cross steered Gvardiol into his own goal.

Lewandowski then had the reassuring 4:2 on foot and head twice (62'/71'), as did Leroy Sané (86').

Neuer was able to parry Dominik Szoboszlai's powerful long-range shot at the other end (72').

Joker Emil Forsberg also failed at the Bayern keeper (82nd).
