Egypt are qualified for the final of the African Cup of Nations but their assistant coach, Diaa al-Sayed, is still pissed.
His players will benefit from one day less recovery than the other finalist, Senegal, and according to him, this is completely unacceptable.
"There is one more day of recovery for Senegal, I hope that, as we have advanced the match for 3rd place (from Sunday to Saturday,), we will play on Monday", specified the technician, replacing in conference release coach Carlos Queiroz, expelled during the match.
In 2017, Egypt had lost… with an extra day of recovery
Senegal qualified on Wednesday against Burkina Faso (3-1) and Egypt eliminated Cameroon on Thursday (0-0, 3 pens to 1).
In 2019 both AFCON semi-finals were played on the same day, and in 2017 Egypt had one more day of recovery than Cameroon but lost the final (2-1).
