Dortmund rules out Haaland's return against Leverkusen

Borussia Dortmund has ruled out the return of its Norwegian striker Erling Haaland from injury to participate in a strong match in the German Football League (Bundesliga) against Bayer Leverkusen, who is third in the competition.

Dortmund coach Marco Rose said: "For Emre Can, Haaland and Mats Hummels, it is not expected that any of them will participate in the last training session tomorrow."

"Mats got on his bike today, so we'll see if he can make the list, but that's a remote possibility."

Young American player Giovanni Reina will return to participate after a five-month absence, Rose said: "He wants to be with us, he's had two weeks of training, seeing him come back and participate and show his potential again is a wonderful and important thing for us."

Dortmund may find itself nine points behind leaders Bayern Munich, as the Bavarian club hosts Leipzig on Sunday, while Leverkusen occupies third place, eight points behind Dortmund, which won the last match between the two teams this season with a score of 4 / 3. He explained Dortmund coach: "I expect a big game, and I hope we win in the end. We need to defend hard and be better with the ball and not lose the easy balls."
