The president of Al-Ahly of Egypt apologizes for attending the African Cup final because of an “important date at the same time”

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Al-Ahly Club, Mahmoud Al-Khatib, apologized for attending the final match of the African Nations Cup, which is currently being held in Cameroon, because of an “important appointment with the attending physician at the same time.”

Al-Ahly club said today, Saturday, in a statement on its official website: “Captain Mahmoud Al-Khatib, president of the club, sent a letter today to Patrice Matsebe, president of the Confederation of African Football, apologizing for not accepting the invitation of the CAF president to attend the final match of the African Cup of Nations scheduled to be held on February 6 in Yaounde. 

The statement stated: "Captain Al-Khatib thanked the President of the African Union for his generous invitation, which he wished to meet had it not been for his association with an important appointment with the treating doctor at that time. The President of Al-Ahly also thanked the members of the African Union and those in charge of it, and wished them all success and success in serving African football." .
