The Moroccan football legend expects the “Atlas Lions” to win.. “The Egyptian team, Mohamed Salah and El-Shennawy only.”

Moroccan football legend and former national team player, Salah El-Din Basir, confirmed that his country's "Atlas Lions" team is much better than Egypt's.

The Egyptian national team and its counterpart Morocco will meet at seven in the evening, Sunday (UAE time), at five o'clock, Egypt time, at the "Ahmadu Ahidjo" stadium, in the quarter-finals of the 2021 African Nations Cup, which is currently being held in Cameroon.

Salah El-Din Basir said, in statements to the Moroccan "Al-Bouta" website: "I think that the Moroccan team is currently much better than its Egyptian counterpart, as the latter depends on three or two elements, such as Mohamed Salah and goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy.

On the Moroccan side, there are four or five elements, who form the backbone of the team, Kabono, Boufal, Amrabet and Hakimi.”

Salah El-Din Basir added: “It is a derby match, and such matches that bring together the teams of North African countries, always witness competition and excitement.

These dates will be charged by the media on both sides, and the team, which will be well prepared physically and mentally, will decide the match in its favour.”

The former Moroccan star continued, "I will not say that the match is within reach, but if we prepare well from the mental side, we will certainly be the closest to qualifying for the semi-finals."

The former Deportivo La Coruna professional concluded: “We shouldn't play in a hurry.

The Egyptian team will often close all ports, to counter Boufal's speed and Hakimi's incursions, and I think that Khalilzoic, in turn, will avoid creating spaces for Mohamed Salah and some other names such as Trezeguet and Zizou.

Salah El-Din Basir played 59 international matches with the Moroccan national team, during which he scored 37 goals. He also participated in the 1998 World Cup, scoring two goals against Scotland.
