The ski jumping venue in Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province, which is adjacent to Beijing, was mostly covered with artificial snow, and work was done to harden the snow in the area where the athletes landed.

The National Ski Jump Center, located in Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province, adjacent to Beijing and about 180 kilometers away, is newly built as China's first ski jumping platform for the Beijing Olympics, and its design resembles a stick. It is nicknamed "Yukiyoi".

In this area, the amount of snowfall is not so large throughout the year, so according to maintenance personnel, most of the snow used at the venue is artificial, and from around November last year, the work of hose-spreading artificial snow began. It means that it is over.

On the 29th, more than 10 people involved were working on using skis to harden the artificial snow in the area where they would jump and land.

Artificial snow has the advantage of being able to adjust the snow quality according to the weather and humidity, but it also has problems such as the need for a large amount of water and labor costs.

Alpine Operations Manager Wei Keika said, "I know there are concerns, but with the cooperation of a large number of staff and a lot of time, the artificial snow was fully prepared. It's okay because it's done. "

At the venue, the day after the opening ceremony, the competition will start on the 5th of next month.
