A final place is at stake when Sweden and France clash in the European Championship semi-final tonight.

The French have been one of the world's best national teams for many years and won Olympic gold in Tokyo this summer.

The Swedish defensive game will - as always - be important.

- They always come with an incredible amount of power.

They want to push us down so it is important to get up and get a good first hit so that we do not slip down and let them shoot from 7-8 meters.

Then it will be tough for our goalkeepers, says Max Darj to SVT Sport.

"Their home run is not okay"

Jim Gottfridsson is on the same track and gives the defensive game in the second half against Norway as a good example.

- We have to start the defensive game we got against Norway, then it was fantastic.

Then we also get the goalkeeper game with us and we can get it tomorrow and then counterattacks on it then we can get weathering, he says.

The game engine sees the French as heavy and physical but believes that they have shortcomings.

- Their home run is not entirely okay, there is a lot to do.

And at the same time, we can get them to shoot from ten meters and they will do the same, I remember from the WC 2021.

Two victories in the last ten years

Sweden has only two victories against France in the last ten years - but one of them came last, in the World Cup 2021.

- I think it can mean several different things to us.

Now we see that we can beat a team that has been the best for the last 20 years.

But the downside is that with this, they will be hungry for revenge.

It will be a tough match, says national team captain Glenn Solberg.

Despite the recent victory, Solberg sees the French as favorites.

- It's 70/30 to France.

We are underdogs.

The semi-final between Sweden and France is played at 20.30 and SVT Sport reports live.
