After it was known that a confirmed person of Corona 19 attended the Korean delegation ceremony for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, all the athletes and leaders of the national team at the time took a breather as the test results were negative.

The Korea Sports Association announced today (26th) that all the athletes and leaders of the Jincheon National Athlete's Village who attended the ceremony received negative results from the gene amplification (PCR) test.

The day before, at the decision ceremony held at the Olympic Hall, Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul, one sports club employee who tested positive for COVID-19 appeared to be present, and the national team, who was about to depart, could not hide their embarrassment.

The Sports Association said that the confirmed person left the event immediately after being notified of the diagnosis at around 4:06 pm, right after the decision ceremony began.

After the decision ceremony, the players and leaders of the Jincheon Athletes' Village, who came to know this fact belatedly through media reports, arrived in Jincheon, North Chungcheong Province, and immediately moved to Jincheon St. Mary's Hospital to conduct a PCR test.

Fortunately, there are no additional confirmed cases, and national players and leaders resumed training for each sport for participation in the Olympics.

The Beijing Winter Olympics will be held from February 4-20 in Beijing, China.

Prior to the decision ceremony, the Sports Council is also encouraging those involved in the 2022 Korean Athletics Championships held at a nearby handball stadium to undergo a preemptive COVID-19 test.
