On Wednesday, Olympique Lyonnais "categorically" denied any agreement with Newcastle for a possible transfer of its Brazilian international midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, citing "false information disseminated by many media".
“In this transfer window period when the slightest rumor is often presented as reality, OL would like to remind you that only the information officially released by the club is to be taken into consideration,” he continued in a press release.
On contract until summer 2024
Several media spoke on Wednesday of an agreement between the two clubs for a transfer of 40 million euros with a quadruple salary for the player who signed two years ago for OL.
He was then transferred for 20 million from Athletico Paranaense (1st Brazilian division) thanks to the interpersonal skills of Juninho, sports director of OL – whom he has since left.
Guimaraes, who was also heavily courted by Atletico de Madrid, is under contract with Olympique Lyonnais until June 30, 2024.
