A Spanish coach leads the Syrian national team in the World Cup qualifiers

The Syrian Basketball Federation has contracted with Spanish coach Javier Juarez, to lead the first Syrian team, during the second period of the Basketball World Cup qualifiers.


And the director of the Syrian national basketball team, Iyad Al-Sibai, confirmed in press statements to the Syrian media, including the “Win” website, that the coach will arrive today, Wednesday, in the Syrian capital, Damascus, and begin his work, where the players will be gathered in an internal camp, before traveling to the Emirates to participate. In the "Dubai International Team Championship", which will be held from February 8 to 16, and represents a preparatory rehearsal for "Nesour Qasioun" before entering the second window of the World Cup qualifiers.

Coach Juarez had previously led the Spain under-18 team to win the gold medal in the European Championship in 2012, and he also coached the Murcia and Urbas Fuenlabrada teams in the Spanish First Division, and previously coached the reserve team in Real Madrid in 2017.
