“Giti Tires” returned again in the Asian Formula Championship, with the participation of 28 cars, in the opening round of the 2022 season at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, which was held from the 21st to the 23rd of this month.
A press release stated, "One of the distinctive features of this year's Asian Regional Formula Championship is that the Emirati racing family, consisting of Khaled Al Qubaisi, with his two daughters Amna Al Qubaisi and Hamda Al Qubaisi, all participate in the Asian Regional Formula Championship season, and the name of the series was changed this year from the approved "Asian Formula 3 Championship" From the FIA, Giti Tires will be the main sponsor and complete supplier of tires for the 2022 season, from January to February 2022.”
The first round of racing was held at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
The participation includes drivers representing 15 countries competing with eight of the world's premier single-seat teams for juniors, including four young academic talents in Formula 1.
The statement confirmed: “The current champions from the “Abu Dhabi Racing by Prima” team, which won the title last year with the newly signed driver with Alfa Romeo F1 Chu Guanyu, participated in five cars, and made his first appearance in the Asian Formula Championship, a member of the American junior team Red Bull Jack Crawford. The 16-year-old is with the team after his first season in the FIA Formula 3 Championship last year.
He is joined by 17-year-old Estonian Paul Aron, the Mercedes junior team, and three members of the UAE’s leading racing family, Al Qubaisi, father Khaled and his daughters Hamda and Amna.
