The Norwegian national ski team is recharging before the Olympics with a publisher in Italy.

Coaches Arild Monsen and Ole Morten Iversen traveled home from the camp yesterday and then the coaches tested positive for covid-19.

Monsen is responsible for the sprint team and is the coach for, among others, Johannes Hösflot Kläbo.

- I was shocked and feel incredibly sorry for Arild.

It is very sad, says national team manager Espen Bjervig to VG.

- It's the worst that could happen.

Infection in the squad so close to departure for the Olympics.

Kläbo can miss the flight to Beijing

Now Kläbo risks being quarantined as he is one of those who are considered to have had close contact with Monsen.

This may mean that Kläbo, which is a major Norwegian medal jump in the Olympics, may not have time for the Norwegian national team's flight to Beijing on 27 January.

Kläbo can then have to wait with the trip until 31 January.

- It could happen.

But now we work hard.

The worst outcome is five days in Italy, but a new flight leaves on 31 January.

Then he can do it, says Bjervig.

Those in the Norwegian national team who remain in Italy have been tested negative.
