A stampede in front of a stadium in Yaoundé, before an African Cup of Nations (CAN) football match between Cameroon and the Comoros on Monday, January 24, left "half a dozen dead and dozens injured", according to a Cameroonian state media.

"A stampede at the entrance to the Olembe stadium" left "half a dozen dead and dozens injured", announced CRTV, Cameroon's state television, specifying that the authorities and the African Confederation of football (CAF) "follow the situation of the wounded in the hospitals of the city".

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), which organizes the continent's flagship competition, for its part dispatched its secretary general "to the bedside of the victims admitted to hospitals in Yaoundé".
