Algeria coach Djamel Belmadi reveals the realistic reasons for leaving the African Nations

Algeria coach Djamel Belmadi expressed his disappointment after the "Vegetables" were eliminated early from the first round of the African Nations Cup, noting that the "Desert Warriors" did not deserve to be defeated by the Ivory Coast.

Algeria, the defending champion, has left the African Nations Cup, currently being held in Cameroon, after suffering a severe loss at the hands of the Ivory Coast national team, Thursday, with three goals to one, to bring the "Desert Warriors" to the bottom of the Group E table, with an orphan point.

Belmadi said in statements after the Ivory Coast match: "Frankly, we did not deserve this loss and exclusion, but at the same time we did not do what we had to stay in the competition."

He added, "We did not know how to enter the match, and after that we were late in the result, and unfortunately we missed the effectiveness in front of the goal, and we did not know how to take advantage of the opportunities that were available to us, before our affairs became complicated by wasting a penalty kick (by Riyad Mahrez)."

And the Algerian coach added: "We are very disappointed, because we had a lot of desire to represent Algeria in the best possible way, but the result of today's match is not related to the issue of will, but rather to ability, and that is the difference."

He concluded: "Now I do not want to talk about the future, time does not allow me to do so, and we will see what happens soon."
