Marco Groß finished 65th on his debut in the Biathlon World Cup.

When Anton Babikow from Russia won the individual competition over the 20 kilometers on Thursday in Antholz, Italy, the son of the multiple Olympic champion Ricco Groß was more than seven minutes behind the winner Anton Babikow, who remained clean, after three shooting errors.

The Russian won ahead of the Norwegian Tarjei Bö (2 penalty minutes/+ 9.7 seconds) and his compatriot Said Karimulla Khalili (1/+ 48.5 seconds).

Best of the German biathlon team was Benedikt Doll, who shone in the prestigious individual on the cross-country ski run, but after four penalty minutes in twelfth place, 2:44.6 minutes behind, missed the leap into the top ten.

Justus Strelow (2) was 22nd, 3:49.3 minutes behind.

One day after his Olympic nomination, David Zobel (4/+ 4:27.1 minutes) came in 31st. Lucas Fratzscher (5/+ 6:50.4) finished the race in 59th place.

Philipp Horn had to cancel his start at short notice due to gastrointestinal problems.

Hochfilzen sprint winner Johannes Kühn was there, but not in the race after his corona infection.

The women's singles continue on Friday in Antholz.
