On Thursday, it became known that Leo Johansson's Olympic trip is in danger after the 22-year-old cross-country skiing talent tested positive for covid-19.

During the ongoing camp in Livigno, Italy, where the rest of the squad is located, they have also done everything they can to ensure that more cross-country skiers do not test positive.

- Someone lives alone, otherwise they live two and two.

So there are small bubbles in the bubble.

And they eat nowhere else but in adjoining apartments where we have two chefs, one for the men's team and one for the women's team, who rig with breakfast, snacks, lunch, snacks, dinner and evening coffee.

Worried about the flight

The big risk factor, says Wall, is when it comes to the Olympics in Beijing.

During the flight, with all that it entails, the pilots are particularly vulnerable.

- There are great risks in being at an airport.

Winding queues to a security check with a distance of one or two meters, it does not exist today.

You're pretty close to each other there.

So it is a risk every time we have to mix with many other people, says Jan Wall.

Protects the eye mucosa

To reduce the risks even more, they have therefore started to look at alternative mouth guards, which Olympic travelers should be able to wear on the way to China.

In addition to mouth and nose, these also protect the eyes.

- I have received nice pictures of some new variants that we will test, which are more comprehensive.

It is like a built-in visor as well, so that you protect the eye mucosa.

Otherwise, we run with the usual FFP2 masks, and replace them when they are used up.

The national length team travels to Beijing from Oslo next Friday, January 27.

According to Aftonbladet, the special masks must be used by all active members of the Swedish Ski Association - thus also among the cross-country skiers and the alpine practitioners.

- We try to protect them as much as we can.

Now they have good protection at the airport and when they sit next to others on the flight, says alpine manager Tommy Eliasson Winter to Aftonbladet.
