The World Rally Championship started on Thursday night in classic Monte Carlo.

It was the first leg with the new hybrid cars and Swedish Oliver Solberg's first as the official factory driver for Hyundai.

But immediately when he went to the finish, you noticed that he was not happy with his distance.

- I could not really hear what you said.

So annoying, Solberg said immediately after the finish when he talked to his map reader Elliot Edmondson.

In the interview then he developed:

- I could not hear him.

Everything else sounded too much.

It's so very annoying.

You lose the rhythm.

Ogier beat the legend

Solberg finished eight on the distance, 22 seconds behind the eight-time world champion Sebastien Ogier who won the distance.

Ogier did it five seconds before a comeback legend, compatriot Sebastien Loeb.

The two veterans, 38 and 47 years old respectively, will not run the entire World Cup season and thus Ogier will not defend his World Cup title.

The Frenchman Ogier was also not very happy with his driving, despite the victory on the 15.2 kilometer long distance,

- It did not feel so good at first, but we are through, says Ogier.

Third was the British Elfyn Evans.

The rally in Monte Carlo runs until Sunday.
