Parasport has been hit hard during the corona.

The association estimates that they have lost over 40 percent to their practitioners during the pandemic.

- I think there are several reasons for that.

In part, there is a built-in problem in many who have a disability, that you are also more vulnerable and therefore need to stay away.

But then you are also often dependent on other people to get to your sports activity.

From travel services to assistants and other things and that proximity, you should then also have avoided, says Åsa Llinares Norlin, chairman of the pair association.

"Has been hit very hard"

It is mainly grassroots sports that have been affected in the pandemic's footsteps, but the elite have also been affected.

The troops for the Paralympics have become memories and for the first time in almost 20 years, Sweden lacks a hockey team when they failed in the qualifiers.

- We have been hit very hard among our participants.

There is a way to count where you look at participants and participant opportunity and where we have lost up to 80 percent, says Llinares Norlin.

This is how they should reverse the trend

Now the union will try to reverse the downward trend.

- I think we really need to help and support both our districts but also our associations in being able to pick up the phone and tune in, hear and really pep.

Make sure to create safe environments for people to come back.

- But I think we can be a little more hands on now in getting these people back, so I think we can slowly but surely build it up again.
