The Disciplinary Committee of the Professional Football League has decided to cancel the red card awarded to Montpellier's Elye Wahi.

The striker was excluded shortly after coming into play in Strasbourg (3-1).

However, the images clearly showed that the player had not touched his opponent, nor did he intend to foul.

Judging at real speed, the referee of the meeting had sent him off.

The attitude of the player, involved in a scuffle a few moments earlier as soon as he entered the game, may have influenced his judgment.

But the VAR, supposed to correct obvious errors, had not deemed it necessary to judge him after viewing images that were nevertheless obvious.

These same images that allowed the disciplinary committee to clear the player.

Montpellier led 1-0 before collapsing to 10 against 11

The people of Montpellier had developed a deep feeling of injustice after this improbable sanction.

Before being reduced to ten, Montpellier led 1-0 on the lawn of Strasbourg.

The team, certainly in difficulty since the resumption of the second period, then completely collapsed after this red card to lose 3-1.

Elye Wahi can be aligned against Troyes on Wednesday, in a late match of the 20th day of Ligue 1. This will not be enough to remove the bitterness of this scenario in Alsace from Montpellier fans and players.
