In a battle with Maja Stark (golf), Oliwer Magnusson (freeskiing) and Ebba Årsjö (alpine, parasport), the athlete Maja Åskag won the prize for this year's newcomer at the Sports Gala.

This after a successful last year with four international gold medals.

In this summer's junior EC she took gold in both triple jump and long jump and she repeated the same feat at the junior WC.

- What to say, so incredible.

I have developed and had the best time of my life so far, says Åskag to SVT Sport about 2021.

And she has no plan to choose a branch.

"You keep the joy"

If her body has the strength and stamina to double, she hopes to be able to continue with both triple jump and long jump in the future as well.

- There are many who ask, we will see simply.

Right now it works well but in the future we will see if the body lasts, it is very individual.

For some, it lasts a lifetime while others feel they have to choose, so we'll see.

- I think it's fun to combine, I run a little sprint on it too.

I do not snow on a branch and get stuck.

Then I think it's nice with variety.

I have a background as a gymnast so I have pretty good basic physics.

I keep my fingers crossed that it's possible, but it's hard to say now.

What are the benefits of doubling?

- I think there are many benefits, but the biggest is that you keep the joy when you are doing several different branches.

Her goals for the coming season include the Swedish Championships in Växjö at the end of February.

In addition, the European Indoor Championships are included in the planning, as is the European Championships in Munich in August.
